When Kourtney and Kim Kardashian began creating their newest retail store, Dash SoHo in New York City, they had no idea how difficult it would be.
Soon TV fans will see the frustrations in living color.
"Since we were filming Kourtney & Kim Take New York while opening our newest Dash boutique, we were shocked at how much harder it was to open a store in New York as compared to Los Angeles and Miami," Kourtney told PEOPLE while hosting a CIROC Vodka New Year's Eve party on the rooftop of Ganesvoort South in Miami Beach.
The new reality series will focus on how the sisters dealt with retail pressure, a bigger scale store and higher rents than they had ever imagined while completing the opening of Dash SoHo.
"The fashion pressure on us was really daunting," Kourtney tells PEOPLE. "We are on the same block as mega successful stores like Chanel so we really had our work cut out for us. It was a lot more detail and worry than we ever imagined. That will come out on the TV show."
How the girls handled the pressure and what it took to get the store open will be of interest to fans of the E! series and to those who love fashion as much as the Kardashians.
"What hassles we went through to get the store open and how amazing it looks now are highlights of the show," Kardashian continues.
Also featured are scenes of a single Kim going out in New York City. The girls are shot hanging out all over town and being squired to restaurants and salons and on tony shopping sprees.
"We had a blast," Kardashian says. "It also gave Kim and I the chance to spend a lot of time together like we did growing up." Kourtney & Kim Take New York debuts Jan. 23 on E!
